Canyon Lake Gorge – A Neighboring Geological Wonder

Canyon Lake Gorge, one of the Texas Hill Country’s most unique landmarks, is located only four minutes drive (2.1 Miles) from Rio Guadalupe Resort in New Braunfels. Carved by the flood of 2002, the Canyon Lake Gorge is a must-see for recreationalists, conservationalists, budding geologists, and nature enthusiasts alike!

The Canyon Lake Gorge is a real-life classroom where visitors can experience the geology of the Texas Hill Country first-hand through visible faults, fractures and seeps in the cretaceous limestone as well as fossils and dinosaur footprints 110 million years old. Waterfalls, springs, and limestone layers from an ancient sea tell the story of the land.
