Although many Texas State Parks are open for “day use only” due to COVID-19, most private RV parks are deemed essential, and therefore remain open (with restrictions) during the pandemic. RV parks in Texas serve as a refuge for full-time, seasonal, and recreational RVers throughout the State.

Texas State Parks are open for day use only.

RV Camping in Texas During the Coronavirus Pandemic

A wonderful advantage to RV camping is the ability to travel without leaving your home. Since RV parks serve as an outdoor facility for guests to shelter within their own protected environment, campers can travel in an RV without violating CDC guidelines for social distancing. When visiting an RV park, follow measures posted by the CDC, local health authorities, and guidelines outlined by local and state authorities to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus. Practice social distancing at all times, even when hiking, fishing, and exploring nature.

Are RV Parks Considered Essential in Texas?

RV camping not only offers a “mental break” for families struggling to ‘shelter in place, RV parks also provide essential products and services to many Americans.

  • RV and travel campers serve as temporary housing for frontline workers providing essential services
  • Full-Time RVers and seasonal RV travelers, such as the “Winter Texans,” rely on parks for extended-stays
  • RV parks offer shelter for travelers who are unable or afraid to return home during the pandemic
  • Many RV parks provide essential products such as gas, propane, and groceries
  • RV parks offer essential services such as laundry facilities, etc.
